Vice-Chancellors Research Award

Congratulations to Professor Patrick Arbuthnot who was awarded the Wits 2018 Vice-Chancellor's (VC's) Research Award at a ceremony held at Emoyeni in Partown. This award highlights the important internationally recognised research that the Wits/SAMRC AGTRU has accomplished under the directorship of Prof. Arbuthnot.

Graduations

Congratulations to Prashika Singh and Tiffany Smith who both graduated with Masters degrees in Molecular Medicine this July.

Invited Speaker

Prof. Patrick Arbuthnot has been invited to present the latest HBV gene therapy research at the XXIVth Annual Meeting of the German Society for Gene Therapy this September. He will be discussing liver-specific delivery and efficacy of different designer nucleases.

Travel Award

Congratulations to Tiffany Smith who recently received a Travel Grant from the International HBV meeting organizers to present her research on obligate heterodimeric TALENs at their upcoming congress in Italy.

Upcoming Conferences

Dr Betty Maepa will be presenting research on AAV-mediated delivery of anti-HBV sequences at the 26th annual congress of the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT) which will be held in Switzerland this October.
