The national quantum strategy makes 9 key recommendations for strategic intervention to accelerate technology development and deployment in an effort to create a quantum industry in South Africa. At the heart of these recommendations is the process of innovation, turning ideas into solutions, and solutions into businesses. WitsQ actively promotes quantum innovation across all spheres of quantum technologies, including:
- new technologies for quantum communication, integrating sources, detectors, and protocols for a deployable ready quantum network;
- new quantum cameras and microscopes, to probe objects with few photons for a step-change in health imaging;
- new technologies for on-chip integrated quantum computers;
- new ‘quantum apps’, harnessing quantum computing to create new quantum software solutions for industry.
