South African Actuaries Development Programme
The Programme seeks to actively address the problem of the acute shortage of Actuarial skills in the black community in South Africa. We do this by availing resources to young black students who have potential and a keen interest in pursuing Actuarial Science as a career.
Bursaries are awarded to students with a very good academic record at high school and/or university. The bursary covers some or all of the following:
- Tuition
- Residence
- Meals
- Living allowances and
- Text book fees
SAADP renews the bursary each year depending on the good academic performance of a student. 足球竞彩app排名s must therefore maintain good academic progress.
Who can apply for a bursary?
Bursaries are awarded to students who are studying or intending to study an Actuarial Science degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Requirements for Grade 12 足球竞彩app排名s
To be considered for the bursary, a Grade 12 student must:
- Have a passion for and an intention to study Actuarial Science on a full-time basis.
- Meet the minimum entry requirements to study Actuarial Science, which are Level 7 (Symbol 'A')or 80% in pure Mathematics, Physical Science, English first additional language or at least 70% in English home language.
- Have achieved good marks in Grade11 final exams and Grade 12 June exams respectively.

Requirements for university students
To be considered for a bursary, students:
- Must be studying towards a degree in Actuarial Science on a full-time basis.
- Must have a good academic record in their first, second or third year of study.
- 足球竞彩app排名s from other universities may also apply, however, they must have applied and been accepted by the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg to study towards an Actuarial Science degree.
The programme is open to South African nationals who meet the entry requirements.

The programme is structured in such a way that it also supports students with academic and social support through mentorship, life skills workshops and training. A full-time programme manager is available to offer support through additional tutorials, mentorship, social support etc.
