Water and Sanitation Indaba

The Wits Postgraduate Association (PGA) invites postgraduate students and emerging researchers to submit abstracts for the Water and Sanitation Indaba.

Under the theme "Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems for Agenda 2063."

Thematic areas:
  • Water and sanitation access and infrastructure
  • Engineering systems, design, maintenance, and innovation
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Gender, inequality, and social justice
  • Climate change and sustainability
  • Governance, policy, and service delivery
  • Community practices, lived experiences, and information systems.

Successful applicants should be ready to prepare their presentations within a short turnaround time after acceptance.

Call for Abstracts

Two presentation categories are available:

  • Poster Presentations (for emerging research, conceptual work, or preliminary findings) hosted at the Postgraduate Hub, and
  • Oral Presentations (for more developed research or policy-oriented work) at the main venue.


Applicants must clearly indicate their preferred category upon submission. The review process prioritises broad interdisciplinary representation. Successful applicants should be ready to prepare their presentations within a short turnaround time after acceptance.
