Teaching Inclusive Classrooms
You don't need to be a disability expert - that's what we're here for! Partner with DRU to support students with disabilities in your courses and help us provide an even playing field where they can demonstrate their knowledge fairly, without compromising academic standards.
We Provide:
- Guidance on disability accommodations and inclusive teaching practices
- Conversion of course materials to various accessible formats (electronic, braille, tactile)
- Support for student concessions (extra time, assistive technology, etc.)
- Department disability sensitisation workshops and training sessions on request
What we ask from you:
- Submit course materials early to DRU for conversion to accessible formats (we converted 13,556 pages last year!)
- Understand approved reasonable accommodations for your students
- Maintain the same academic standards while removing barriers to access
