Monday the 22^nd  August 2022 appointments for consultation will be booked on daily bases from 08:00-15:30.
A register will be placed at the door every morning where students can place their names on any available slot for the day.

How to stay mentally healthy during the lockdown?

Caring for the mind is as important as caring for your body. Mental health begins with finding balance by looking after your physical, social, psychological, and spiritual well-being.

Practical things to do while on lockdown

• Develop a routine
• Plan activities that you can do individually or with your family e.g. house chores
• Eat healthily
• Drink water
• Meditate
• Exercise or do yoga indoors or in your yard
• Watch inspiring movies
• Play indoor games with your family
• Listen to inspiring music and motivational speakers
• If you are religious spend time praying and reading your bible/Koran etc.

1. Stay in touch with your family, friends, and colleagues via social media, especially people who suffer from anxiety and other mental health problems.
2. While busy doing the above it is important to remember to take your medication as prescribed.
3. Remember to practice your breathing exercises.
4. Practice mindfulness (being in the moment, i.e. enjoying everything you do by paying full attention to every single detail) e.g. when eating food, pay attention to the colour of your food, chewing slowly and focusing on the taste - salty, sweet or sour.
5. Remember to challenge your negative thoughts. Know that you are not alone, people are just a call away and keep yourself updated by watching the news.
6. Also, it's ok to feel uncertain, frustrated or worried but stay positive and remember this situation is not permanent. 

Vaccination Site Now At The Campus Health & Wellness Centre

The Wits Vaccination and Testing Site has moved to the Campus Health and Wellness Centre at the Matrix. Operating times: 08:00 – 15:00, Monday to Friday. Services include free vaccinations and boosters using Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson while Antigen testing is available for R100.00. The MVAX Help Desk is available should you require assistance with uploading the certificate. No booking is required, just bring your identity document or passport. Persons with restricted mobility can make a vaccination appointment with Sister Anna Moloi at Anna.Moloi@wits.ac.za.
