Governing Structures at Wits University

The Higher Education Act provides for the establishment of a Council, Senate, 足球竞彩app排名 Representative Council and University Forum among other offices and structures, in all public higher education institutions. These are institutional governance structures with distinctive roles, which may be summarised as below.

Council governs the Wits institution subject to the Higher Education Act and the institutional statutes

Senate

Senate is accountable to Council with regard to the academic and research functions of the institution

Convocation Exco elects the University Chancellor, President of Convocation and 10 members of its own Exco

University Forum advises Council on all issues affecting the institution, including those listed in the Act.
