EVERYDAY LIFE IN YEOVILLE
Second year architecture and third year planning students investigated how Yeovillites go about their daily activities in their neighborhood and beyond - finding a place to live, working, playing and learning, shopping, networking. They collected numerous stories mapping Yeoville as a place of dense social linkages, diversified activities and public spaces and infrastructure generally conducive to these networks. What could be read as dynamic social cohesion processes in Yeoville however need to be nuanced, with rising tensions and insecurities linked to insufficient maintenance of public infrastructure and private facilities, in a context marked by high poverty levels and rising socio-economic needs.
