WRIM RESEARCH DAY 2024 - World Malaria Day

In 2024, the theme for World Malaria Day is: Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world. 

South Africa has a long history of just under 120 years of malaria control. Regardless, the country remains susceptible to malaria outbreaks and control remains the fundamental backbone for preventing outbreaks as was experienced in 1999/2000. At the WITS Research Institute for Malaria in collaboration with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases and other Institutes from neighbouring countries, we harness expertise available to reduce the malaria burden in Africa.
