Language Practice Administration

Using language for success in language practice

This short course, offered at NQF level 5, is presented as part of the Diploma in Legal Interpreting. In this course, learners will develop the required skills to use language creatively and effectively in specific professional contexts and other language-related project management situations. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of listening and speaking skills in a variety of professional contexts, including terminology acquisition and cultural competence.

Course Fee

The course costs R12 350.

Classes are subject to a minimum of 8 students. We reserve the right not to run a particular course in an intake if there is insufficient demand. 

Duration

The course is part-time and runs for 8 weeks (40 hours) 

Qualification

Participants who meet all minimum requirements for the course are awarded a certificate of competence.

Programme Overview

Language practice administration for language professionals is offered as a stand-alone course. In this course, interpreters are shown what happens behind the scenes of an interpreting agency. They are given insight as to how to arrange an interpreting event as well as how to appropriately budget for an interpreting event. This course provides language refinement in the form of functional writing specifically focussing on the typical functional writing in an interpreting agency setting.

This course is presented in a blended learning format. Class times: 09:00 - 15:30

Entry Requirements

Please ensure you meet the following requirements when applying for the course: 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (approved by SAQA).
  • Fluent English.
  • Basic computer literacy.
