The WADDP is a team of highly passionate and skilled Pharmaceutical Scientists led by Professor Yahya Choonara innovating 21st century patient-centric Drug (or other Bioactive) Delivery Systems either as standalone prototypes or interfaced with Nanomedicine, Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and supported by using Functional Biomaterials to design world leading pharmaceutical therapies. The team is obsessed with:
Answering Big Questions: High impact, unmet therapeutic needs, contextually relevant, globally applicable
Societal Relevance: Design safe, effective and cost-sensitive patient centric products
Critical Mass: Collaborative innovation, world-class labs, responsive and skilled pharmaceutical researchers
Sustainability: Translational pharmaceutical sciences research
As the pathophysiology of infectious, lifestyle and hereditary diseases become clearer, the need for more targeted and personalized therapies become vital to improve the quality of life of patients.
