Application Cycle Timelines
March
Preparation:
Check programme entry requirements before applying.
Ensure soft copies of required documents, such as Grade 11 results, certified Matric results, and SA ID, are ready to upload. Verification of documents is an ongoing process.
Applications open for all undergraduate (full-time and part-time) programmes. Visit Apply to Wits.
Additional requirements: Some programmes require additional selection criteria such as auditions, interviews, portfolios, NBTs, or job shadowing. See Additional Requirements. Applicants may begin booking NBTs and/or job shadowing before being formally invited to do so.
International applicants: Foreign school leaving results must meet the relevant matriculation exemption requirements. Refer to mb.usaf.ac.za. Faculty-specific criteria are also considered. Decision-making is ongoing - check your self-service portal regularly to track your application status.
April
NBT bookings open. Visit nbt.ac.za to book your test. Note: applicants to Health Sciences programmes must write NBTs at an in-person, venue-based session (pencil and paper). Applicants residing outside South Africa may sit for an online test, as no test venues are available in other countries.
May
Wits Sports Bursary applications open. Visit Sport Bursaries.
BA General (Part-Time): Applications for the July intake close on 31 May 2026.
Residence applications open via the self-service portal.

June
Applications close on 30 June 2026 for: all Health Sciences programmes, Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television (BAFT), Bachelor of Architecture (BAS), Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology, and Bachelor of Audiology.
Part-time registrations open for the BA General July 2026 intake.

July
BAS Portfolio Submission deadline: 31 July 2026. Submit via the BAS Application Exercise page.

August
Job-shadowing certificates of attendance (OT, Physio, BDS, Oral Health Sciences) must be submitted by 1 August 2026.
NBT results are received directly from the NBT Centre. Early feedback to Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, and Health Sciences applicants begins for those who wrote on or before 15 August 2026.
BAFT Portfolio Submission deadline: 31 August 2026. Portfolios must be emailed to applications.film&tv@wits.ac.za.
All WAPT invitations have been sent to qualifying applicants.

September
GEMP applicants write the WAPT on 11 September 2026.
Applications close on 30 September 2026 for all remaining undergraduate programmes, Residence, and Wits Sports Bursary applications.
BAS Online Interviews: A link will be emailed to qualifying applicants to book and participate in an MS Teams interview.

October
Motivation for Readmission after Academic Exclusion: All previously excluded students must upload a readmission motivation by 31 October 2026.
BAS Interim Decisions are communicated.
NBT results: Science applicants must write by 31 October 2026. Humanities Mature Age applicants must also write by 31 October 2026.
WAPT Interim Decisions begin to be communicated.
Wits School of Arts: Auditions, Portfolios, and Questionnaires must be submitted by 31 October 2026.

November
Motivations for Readmission: Decisions are finalised after committee meetings.

December
Tertiary applicants must submit their final academic record(s) - including an overall outcome and code of good conduct - by the following deadlines: Faculty of Health Sciences by 15 December 2026; all other faculties by 13 January 2027.
The university closes for the holiday period.

January
Release of CIE results, IB results, and NSC Matric results.
Registration begins. Visit wits.ac.za/registration.

Useful Tips
Always quote your person/student number in all communication with Wits.
Access the self-service portal regularly to upload outstanding documents, apply for residence, view all communication sent to you, and track your application status.
International applicants: Find important information at wits.ac.za/internationalstudents.
Upgrading past Matrics: Hand deliver or courier a certified hard copy of your upgrade results to the 足球竞彩app排名 Enrolment Centre. A combined Matric certificate is required if you did not obtain a bachelor's degree pass on your first Matric attempt. Only the first upgrade attempt is considered.
