Academic offerings

QAPO works with academics and Faculties to help develop short courses, curricula and new programmes (qualifications), prior to submission to the Academic Planning and Development Committee (APDC).

All new academic programmes are submitted to APDC, Senate and external bodies (DHET, CHE and SAQA) for approval.

Academic offerings comprises all formal and non-formal academic offerings of the university, including credit-bearing and non-credit bearing short courses and courses, curricula and degree programmes.

At Wits, the term used for development of new courses and programmes and changes and enhancements to existing programmes and courses, is academic developments.

Two types of academic developments are identified, namely major and minor academic developments, each with its own planning, approval and quality assurance process.
