What is Molecular Medicine and Haematology
Molecular Medicine is the study, research and application of medicine at the level of molecules such as DNA and proteins within a complex cellular environment, which includes both inherited and acquired diseases. The department focuses primarily on haematological disorders such as Malaria, HIV, HBV, TB and Cancer.

The Department is home to highly rated, internationally-recognised researchers and state-of-the-art facilities. These include: Flow Cytometry, Gene Microarray, DNA Sequencing, Confocal and Fluorescent Microscopy and BL2 and BL2 Tissue Culture Laboratories.

What are the job prospects ?
Studying Molecular Medicine & Haematology provides students with a wide range of skills enabling not only medical research but also applied (RD) science for medical diagnostics and basic molecular and cellular biology.
Graduating students may find employment in a wide range of industries including basic medical research, drug development, diagnostic and vaccine research. Industries might include pharmaceutical, biotech, medical consultancy and medical and research supplies companies. Academic appointments are available in universities and government research facilities.
