WiCDS students and academics reject anti-African xenophobia
The Centre for Diversity Studies rejects state, popular and academic xenophobia in the strongest possible terms. We call on the Wits community to join the picket on Thursday 18 June and show that this university will not tolerate kneejerk discrimination, violence and scapegoating. Diversity and difference, in nationality as in other areas, makes for stronger, more resilient societies. We must resist the mobilisation of xenophobia and afrophobia by right-wing forces and other bad actors who would undermine the core principles of our democracy for political gain. No human is illegal!
