Investing in Excellence: CLM Bursaries Empower Postgraduate 足球竞彩app排名s for 2026

A partial bursary initiative is enabling high-performing postgraduate students in the CLM Faculty to continue and advance their studies in 2026
For many postgraduate students, financial barriers can stand between ambition and achievement. Recognising this reality, the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management has provided over R500,000 in bursary funding that compliments other grants and fellowships to support numerous students across its six Schools. The funding covers selected students registered for Postgraduate Diploma, Honours, and Masters programmes — ensuring that financial hardship does not derail the academic journeys of the Faculty's most promising scholars. This is one of many financial support programmes the Faculty and the university offers to students.

The bursary opportunity emerged from a thoughtful, multi-stakeholder process designed to identify students who would benefit most. The selection involved a joint effort between the Dean of 足球竞彩app排名s, the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, and the Postgraduate Association (PGA).
The PGA played a pivotal role at the outset, identifying prospective recipients through a dedicated survey that reached students across the Faculty. From this pool, the Faculty made the final selection based on academic progression — ensuring that awards went to students who have demonstrated the dedication and ability to succeed at the postgraduate level.
For the students involved, the bursaries represent more than financial relief. They are an affirmation — a signal from the Faculty that their hard work has been seen, valued, and rewarded. With this support in place, recipients can direct their full energies toward their studies, research, and professional development as they progress toward their qualifications in 2026.
“We are acutely aware of the general lack of funding available to tertiary students, and particularly those at the postgraduate level. Financial pressure should never be the reason a capable, hardworking student cannot complete their studies. We are genuinely pleased to be able to support these students — not only to relieve some of the stress that comes with financial burdens, but to open real pathways to professionalism and career success. These bursaries are an investment in our students’ futures and in the broader community they will go on to serve.”

The Faculty's investment in these postgraduate student funding reflects a broader institutional commitment to developing the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and professionals. By partnering with student structures such as the PGA, the Faculty has demonstrated that supporting students is a shared endeavour — one that calls on every part of the university community to play its part.
Kefilwe Phala, CLM Faculty representative for PGA, said “The bursary is more than financial support, it is a bridge between possibility and reality, and a vital step toward addressing the historical gaps of financial exclusion. I am deeply grateful to the CLM Faculty for not only investing in the journeys of students, but for believing in and trusting our future. In my capacity as the Postgraduate Faculty Representative, I recognise that this opportunity carries a profound responsibility, not only to open doors for others, but to uplift where we can and to ensure that the path to success becomes wider, more accessible and more inclusive for those who follow.”
As the 2026 academic year unfolds, the CLM Faculty looks forward to seeing these high-performing students thrive — and to continuing the work of making postgraduate education accessible to all who have the drive and the ability to excel.
