Tshisimani is recruiting

- Lee-Anne Bruce

The Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education is keen to support the development and offering from 2017 of a programme for lawyers involved in social justice law

To assist them in preparation for this programme, the Centre wishes to hire a researcher for a 6 month contract as soon as possible who will undertake research in order to:

  2. determine what specific kind of training activist lawyers require that formal legal training does not at present provide;
  3. determine the skills that community partners believe that activist lawyers should be equipped with.

The researcher will be expected to interview representatives of legal NGOs; community partners involved in housing, sanitation, security, environmental and other issues; members of the academic legal community (both lecturers and students); and legal practitioners working in the field of public interest law.

Qualifications: LLB. Experience in public interest law would be a strong recommendation. Excellent research and communication skills. A passionate interest in legal education. Salary is negotiable and based on the qualifications of the applicant. The researcher should preferably be based in Cape Town.

Only black applicants will be considered for this post. Please apply with a full CV and letter of motivation to paula.ensor@tshisimani.org.za by Friday 17th June 2016.
