The Mining Engineering 足球竞彩app排名s Council (MESC) is a 足球竞彩app排名 School Council within the School of Mining Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. It is a student representative body committed to encouraging effective leadership through its members, while also promoting academic excellence within the school and its constituency.
The MESC derived its existence from Section 26 of the Constitution of the University of the Witwatersrand’s 足球竞彩app排名 Representative Council (SRC) of 2018.
The aims of the MESC include:
- Encouraging academic excellence within the school.
- Striving for holistic development of students within the School of Mining Engineering.
- Promoting transparent, accountable and ethical leadership.
- Upholding the rights of all students within the school.
- Participating in institutional decision-making structures within the school.
- Advising on development and implementation of academic programmes and student-learning experiences.
The MESC consists of a minimum of 5 members and a maximum of 13 members as outlined in the Council Constitution. The members of the MESC are elected annually and serve a one-year term in office.
General elections involving full-time students registered in the school take place annually after which the council members assume office in April on an annual basis.
The duties, functions, powers and terms of office of the MESC are set out in the MESC Constitution. The MESC embraces the notion of co-operative governance in alignment with the statute provided by the SRC.
