Digital Skillshare Project
The Digital Skills Project (DSP) initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is implemented by the LINK Centre. Advisory support is provided to the LINK Centre by the Digital Expert Group Africa (DEGA), comprising the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI), Carnegie Mellon University Africa, the Centre for Cybersecurity Studies based at the Nasarawa State University (CCS-NSUK) in Keffi, Nigeria, Evisights, the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE), and the Open Africa Innovation Research Partnership (Open AIR).
The DSP is a mechanism to mobilise the required expertise from across the African continent and diaspora to undertake research and provide advice on strategy and programme challenges related to various dimensions of digital transformation identified by the BMGF.
- Exploring ethical and inclusive AI systems in primary education;
- Assessing the requirements for technology adoption and acceptance of a digital solution for strengthening regulatory monitoring of edible oil fortification in Nigeria;
- Examining opportunities for accelerating and scaling the development of African Language Technologies; and
- Mapping and analysing the role of public sector digital capabilities in transforming governance in African.
