
Graduations
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on completing your academic programme. We understand that your graduation ceremony marks an important milestone in your life and that it is a special moment that is celebrated with family, friends, and loved ones.
We are sharing pertinent information with you to ensure that your graduation day proceeds as smoothly as possible.

Entry to Campus
All graduation ceremonies will take place in the Great Hall, on East Campus.
Kindly use Yale Road North or South entrance. Visitors parking is available at the Planetarium. Security officers at the entrance will direct you to the parking area.
Please note that all the graduation ceremonies will be live streamed to accommodate family members and friends who may not be invited to attend.

Tickets
You are allowed to bring along two (2) guests only. No additional guests or children under the age of seven (7) years will be allowed.
- You will receive an access QR-code via email as well as an SMS to the mobile number that you have provided. You will be required to share this access QR-code with your guests (restricted to two (2) guests ONLY). This code will be scanned at the entrance of the Great Hall. No person without the official university access code for the specific ceremony will be admitted.
- Tickets are sent 48 hours before your graduation ceremony date.
- Kindly note that graduation tickets are not for sale.
- You will receive an access QR-code via email as well as an SMS to the mobile number that you have provided. Arrival Time
The collection of your academic attire and the taking of photos require at least an hour of your time. It is therefore recommended that you arrive at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the ceremony. Guests need to be seated at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony in the Great Hall.
The Great Hall doors will be closed ten (10) minutes before the commencement of the ceremony for the academic procession.

Dress Code
As for our prestigious graduation ceremony, graduands are required to dress appropriately, ensuring their attire reflects the formality of the event.

Graduand Card
Make your way to the Exams and Grad Office (EGO) desk inside Room 228 (RS228), Robert Sobukwe Building (previously known as Central Block). Here you will receive your graduand name card, which you will have to give to the Dean/Dean’s representative on the stage. Please always keep your name card with you.

Academic Attire
Graduation academic attire is hired in Room 228 (RS228), Robert Sobukwe Building on the day of your graduation ceremony. You must ensure that you have the correct academic attire, and you must wear your full academic attire when entering the Great Hall. Please take note that all graduation attire will be sterile and sanitised.

Graduation Photography
All official graduation photos will be taken by the University’s Official Service Provider, Gordon Harris in the Exams Hall on the second floor of the Robert Sobukwe Building. The link for you to pay and place your pre-orders online is via this website: http://pre-orders.ghphoto.co.za
To maintain a secure and controlled environment, unauthorized photographers are strictly prohibited in the vicinity of the Graduation venue (The Great Hall and East Campus). Graduands are not allowed to bring their own photographer /service provider. 足球竞彩app排名s who use the services of unofficial photographers do so at their own risk. The University will not be held responsible for any interaction students have with them. The University reserves the right of admission, and such photographers will be removed by the University’s Campus Protection Services (CPS) staff and will be requested to leave the campus immediately.

Procedures during the Graduation Ceremony
Please take note of the following procedures that will take place before the graduation ceremony.
Graduands
- Always keep your graduand name card with you, as you will need to show the card to the Dean before crossing the stage.
- Please take note of the following: - Hand your graduand card to the Dean at the podium as s/he or they will need to read your name from the card.
- Stand on the spot marked next to the podium for the University photographer to take your photograph.
- Move to the desk where the Chancellor / Vice-Chancellor and Principal are seated.
? Degree graduands only: The Chancellor / Vice-Chancellor and Principal will cap you. You will then walk to the member of Convocation who will be standing at the end of the stage. The member of Convocation will hood you.
? Diploma graduands: The Chancellor / Vice-Chancellor and Principal will acknowledge you with a nod. Please walk straight to the member of Convocation who will be standing at the end of the stage. The member of Convocation will place a stole over your shoulder.
? Certificate graduands: The Chancellor / Vice-Chancellor and Principal will acknowledge you with a nod. Please walk straight walk to the member of Convocation who will be standing at the end of the stage.
- Stand on the spot marked on the carpet facing the audience whilst the official University photographer takes a final stage photograph of you.
- Take your scroll and degree certificate as you exit from the stage.
- The University photographer will take a photograph of you before you re-enter the Great Hall.
- After the ceremony, proceed to meet your guests outside the Great Hall and have your graduation photos taken by the official University photographer in the Exams Hall on the second floor of the Robert Sobukwe Building.
- Please complete the graduate exit survey before you leave the Great Hall.
Guests:
- Your guest/s in the Great Hall need to be seated at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
All guests are reminded that flash photography is not allowed, and cellphones must be placed silent during the ceremony. The use of a vuvuzela, whistle, or any noise-emitting instrument during the ceremony is prohibited and will be confiscated. Inappropriate behaviour towards the staff will not be tolerated and protection officers may be requested to remove people who disrupt the proceedings at any stage. Children under the age of seven (7) years will not be allowed into the ceremony.

Arrangement for Persons with Disabilities
Should you or your guests require assistance due to a disability, please fill in the online request form at least two weeks in advance. For example, if you are blind, a wheelchair user, or a deaf person requiring sign language interpretation, please let us know.
