The Gender Equity Pathways Project recognizes the empowerment of women in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as a key driver of economic development. The project directly addresses the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions within HEIs. Our initiative aims to foster a culture of safety, respect, and equality within HEIs. The project's planned activities have a substantial and meaningful impact on the economic development and social welfare of South Africa.

Goals and Objectives

Empowering Women in Higher Education Institutions To equip women with the skills and confidence needed to excel in academia and contribute meaningfully to the country’s knowledge economy.
Empowering change Combating Gender-Based Violence - enhancing understanding and attempting to address this issue to foster a culture of safety, respect and equality within HEIs.
Empowering future leaders Enhanced Employability of Graduates - equipping women with the relevant skills necessary for entry into academia and other professional fields to enhance employability for women graduates.
Promoting Inclusivity and Intersectionality Acknowledging the intersectional nature of identities (ethnicity, disability and socio-economic background) to foster a more inclusive and equitable higher education system.
Strengthening Leadership Diversity Fostering an environment that encourages women to occupy senior roles within HEIs.
