Boost for air quality monitoring in Gauteng

South African Atmospheric Quality Monitoring (SACAQM) and Evotel join forces to monitor the province’s air quality.
The SACAQM initiative has partnered with Evotel, a leading Fibre Network Operator, to expand the reach of air quality sensors across the province.
Through this collaboration, SACAQM will supply iits cutting-edge cost-effective technology, AI_r. These devices are designed to measure air pollution levels in real-time and provide critical data for analysis.
The AI_r technology has been developed with the support from the Department of Science and Innovation, the National Research Foundation, iThemba LABS, and the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and in collaboration with the European Laboratory CERN.
Evotel will host these sensors within its extensive network infrastructure. This will enable widespread deployment and ensure efficient connectivity for data collection.
The AI_r solution includes advanced dashboards and data analytics powered by artificial intelligence. These tools help identify pollution hotspots and trends, empowering authorities and communities to take informed action.
