Health Demography
This degree is interdisciplinary with an appeal to all students interested in Health related topics within the School of Social Sciences.
Overview
The Wits Programme in Demography and Population Studies offers an interdisciplinary graduate teaching and research in demography and population studies.
Please note there are no block-release or after-hours lectures.
In addition to obtaining demographic research training, students will learn the contemporary and emerging health issues in Africa and its consequences on development issues. 足球竞彩app排名s will graduate in a specialised field that will enable them to compete with graduates of Public Health degrees in the job market.
Curriculum
This Masters programme has the following courses:
- SOSS 7070A Statistics for Demographic and Survey Analysis (compulsory);
- SOSS 7010A Research Report (compulsory); SOSS 7071A Health Demography;
- COMH 7200 Epidemiology for Health Researchers I;
- COMH 7201 Epidemiology for Health Researchers II;
- COMH 7202 Epidemiology for Health Researchers III (all three are electives);
- Select topic in Social Sciences (elective)

Entry Requirements
Masters by Coursework and Research Report:
- A bachelor’s degree with honours from Wits or another university with a 65% total mark aggregate.

Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. - Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
