Learning Experience Design
Our Learning Experience Designers combine strong digital media skills with a deep understanding of blended and online teaching practice and learning experience design. Our work focuses on support for blended and fully online formal degree programmes and non-formal short learning programmes (including micro-credentialed non-formal short learning programmes), and interventions aimed at strengthening support for online and blended learning and teaching.
We support academic staff in their use of ulwazi for learning and teaching as part of the university's blended learning approach. Our Learning Experience Designers provide various opportunities for academics design and develop engaging and interactive online, blended and face-to-face learning interactions. We support lecturers in the exploration, evaluation and implementation of effective educational technologies to enable meaningful learning experiences for students.
As part of our offerings, we provide support in:
- Designing and developing courses using evidence-based practices to enhance student engagement
- Guide and support lecturers in developing synchronous and asynchronous teaching strategies and learning opportunities
- Support lecturers to harness affordances of new and emerging educational technologies to improve the learning experiences of students
- Support academics with designing and teaching of newly developed or redesigned courses
- Guide lecturers in the thoughtful use and application of the various Learning Management System (LMS) tools to support student learning and evidence-based teaching practices
