They also chair the Faculty Graduate Studies Committee (GSC) and are responsible for:
- Ensuring that the GSC carries out its roles and responsibilities as defined in the Faculty and the Senate Standing Orders on Higher Degrees, as well as any relevant policies.
- Adjudicating appeals from postgraduate students.
- Adjudicating applications for abeyance and extension.
- Providing advice to Schools on postgraduate matters.
- Representing the Faculty on the University Graduate Studies Committee.
- Reporting on postgraduate matters to the Faculty Executive and Faculty Board.
- Overseeing the development of Faculty policies and Standing Orders on higher degrees and diplomas.
- Any other matter concerning postgraduate studies as delegated by the Dean.
- Any other matter contemplated by the Senate or Faculty Standing Orders on Higher Degrees or other relevant policies.

Assistant Dean: Undergraduate Affairs

The Assistant Dean: Undergraduate Affairs oversees undergraduate student affairs including (but is not limited to) student exclusions and readmissions, the practical and administrative consequences of academic developments, and screening awards and prizes for undergraduate students. The remit of their committee demands close relationships with the:
- Undergraduate schools in the faculty

- University’s 足球竞彩app排名 Representative Council (SRC)
- Road to Success Programme (RSP)
The nature of what the committee does may also see it engage with relevant student support structures in the university from time to time, such as the:

- Development and Leadership Unit (DLU)
- Wits Citizenship and Community Outreach (WCCO)

Assistant Dean: Research

The Assistant Dean: Research oversees Research matters in the Faculty arising from the University Research Committee and the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). Its remit includes promotion and facilitation of all aspects of research within the Faculty and is expected to make recommendations to the Dean, Executive Committee and Faculty Board with regard to the encouragement, promotion and improvement of research in the Faculty. The remit will have to take account of research management devolution and will include the following:
- Annual review of research entities
- Implement and monitor faculty research plan
- Formulate and implement appropriate research policies for the faculty
- Liaise with University Research Committee
- Research funding

The Assistant Dean: Teaching and Learning oversees matters arising from the Teaching and Learning Senate Committee and initiates appropriate Faculty and School responses. The office also engages with teaching and learning matters that arise within the Faculty or specific Schools of the Faculty, and either makes decisions and recommendations relating to these matters, or where these have broader causes or implications, refers them to the Senate Teaching and Learning Committee. Additionally, the Assistant Dean: Teaching and Learning is Head of the faculty’s Teaching and Learning Unit, which also houses the Online Learning Team and the Road to Success Programme.

Assistant Dean: Academic Planning and Strategy

The Assistant Dean: Academic Planning and Strategy oversees issues falling within the ambit of academic planning, both long and short term. The office will ensure that documents pertaining to academic planning initiatives, most specifically those relating to new academic developments in the Faculty, have received appropriate consideration, and are in a form that reflects that consideration, prior to their tabling at Faculty Board.
Activities of the Assistant Dean include:
- Coordinating the Faculty’s academic planning initiatives including the strategic plan for Faculty
- Aiding Faculty Board (with input from Faculty Executive) in the formulation of appropriate responses towards implementation of institutional policies
- Liaising with Faculty Registry on required records and databases of Faculty processes and functions
- Liaising with the University Quality and Academic Planning Office in regard to Faculty developments, changes in national regulation and policy and dissemination of information; provide response to University and external documents where appropriate; and provide advice and direction to the Faculty in this regard
- Liaising with the Schools to ensure the smooth running of the QQR processes
